It used to be, you had 3 to 5 icons on your mobile telephone to tell you everything that is occuring with your cellular world. These days there is plethora of icons, and at the forefront are the iPhone and the Verizon Droid.
Now you can see not only voicemail as an icon, but if you missed a call, if there is a call on hold, new voicemail or new e-mail message. You may know if there’s a problem with your SMS or MMS delivery, if there is new instant message, if info is syncing or if a song is playing on your phone. The Droid and the icons it has onboard reflect the new smartphone technology.
If the ringer is off in silent mode or if the speakerphone is on – there is a separate icon for it. You can tell if there is a call on hold, if the call is forwarded or if there us a calling progress. It will also tell you if GPS is enabled and if it is working.
The Droid icons are smooth, straightforward to identify and tend to convey what they mean in a comparatively nice show that allows for ease in understanding. The Droid wants this level of icons as it does so much. It even has an aircraft mode where wireless services are automatically set to off.
All these icons are show in the status bar on the top of the Droid. Of course, you get the common icons, but there are also icons for outstanding Notifications and Messages. This means that all of the calls, text messages and new e-mails are all shown in this section. They’re going to be there till you look after them. This is great for when you are away from your cell-phone.
The Droid doesn’t give audio reminders, but it is doing give you plenty of icons and a green blinking light which will turn on the status bar so that you can take care of any outstanding actions that are shown by the various icon notices. All you need to do then is turn on your Droid and touch the express icon that fits with an action. You can then sort it.
For as cool as the Droid is, sometimes it needs to be rebooted. You can tell when this is occurring when the see though wheel icon starts spinning nonstop. You will need to use the Advance Task Killer if you have it, and can use it. There are different types icons for diverse services and apps. Everything from apps to actions to take, Droid icons are easily read and pretty clear cut.
